It’s 5 am and my alarm has gone off. I have good intentions of getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, and getting my hair and make-up done. Some mornings I’m able to climb out of bed and I get a blissful hour where no one else is awake and I can take my time getting ready. Some days I decide to wait until my husband’s alarm goes off and then I remember why I want to wake up at 5 am. The one place I don’t sacrifice in my personal care routine, though, is shower time.
Moms: Are You Remembering Self-Care?
I have never been one of those moms who rushed through a shower or let my kid sit on the bathroom floor yelling for me while I tried to take care of my basic hygiene needs. Call me selfish, but I just am not willing to give up my shower time. Every other hour of my day is spent helping my little human get ready for her day; making sure she is fed, clean and happy or worrying about whether she is fed, clean or happy. She also has this annoying habit of clinging to me like a koala baby or something. Okay, so sometimes I love the clinging but let’s face it when it’s practically 24/7 you start to feel a bit claustrophobic and then you do things like yell, “Get off of me!” Just me? Okay, moving on.
Back to my shower time. This is the time when no one disturbs me. This is important moms so listen up. DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS IN THE BATHROOM FOR YOUR SHOWER TIME. All caps are necessary because too many of us do it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my days where I was covered in vomit or some other bodily fluid and the only option was to set my child on the floor of the bathroom and get clean as quickly as possible. I’m not talking about the emergency situations here, I’m talking about your everyday personal care. When you’re a mom you give up so much of yourself and sacrifice in so many other areas. Do yourself a favor and make sure that your personal care routine is a part of your self-care.
Now, back to shower time. What products you use to wash your hair, shave your legs and care for your skin are just as important as making sure that you give yourself this time. Remember, this is part of your self-care, don’t be stingy here ladies. You deserve to pamper yourself, even if that’s just in the products you use and the time you take for yourself.
I have used all-natural shampoo and conditioner for some time now and until recently I thought I had found my favorite shampoo. That was until I was introduced to the PureHaven Essentials shampoo and conditioner. You guys, my hair has honestly not felt and looked this good in a long time. As you might have experienced yourself, your hair changes after you have a child. Mine used to be so soft and smooth and then I had my daughter and I thought those days were over. I absolutely love this shampoo and conditioner and I look forward to washing my hair. When I’m done I can already feel how smooth and soft my hair is. My hair’s glory days have returned.
Important Note: If you have never used all natural and sulfate free shampoo before your hair may go through a detox period of one to two weeks. Don’t panic, if you can make it through this period I promise you your hair will come out the other side so much better. These shampoos also don’t lather like the drugstore shampoos but that absolutely does not mean that your hair isn’t getting clean.
The next important area is when you shave your legs. Aside from the fact that you want to be enjoying this time to yourself, shaving too fast is how accidents happen and how you wind up bleeding all over the shower. Now before you start shaving make sure you exfoliate! Do yourself a favor and get a good quality razor and a shaving gel that won’t clog it all up. The PureHaven Essentials Shaving Gel is perfect because it allows my razor to glide over my skin. I’m also not rinsing off my razor after every other pass up my leg because it doesn’t clog it up. Afterward, my legs feel amazing. The next time you shave your legs, take the time to feel how wonderfully smooth they are. You’re welcome.
Now that you’ve enjoyed your long and peaceful shower it’s time to dry off and get dressed but there is one more step that is very important. You have to moisturize! This is probably my favorite part because after I’ve exfoliated, washed up and shaved, the moisturizer just makes me feel decadent. I’ve recently started using the PureHaven Essentials Dream Cream. I use this especially for after bath or shower time because it’s thicker and I love it so much I don’t want to use it up with everyday use. This is my special lotion.
By the time you’re done with your shower you will feel so much better because you’re not only clean but you also took the time to really care for yourself. I can’t wait to hear what you guys think of the PureHaven Essentials products and how you practice self-care as a mom! Let me know in the comments below.
