Weekend Recap: Icefest, Cousins And An Easy Sunday

Happy Monday Lovelies!!!  I hope you all had a nice weekend and stayed safe, as a lot of you might have gotten stuck in that horrible Winter Storm?  We lucked out and it stayed away for most of the weekend.  Not so lucky is that it showed up just in time for the new work week. 😦  We had a lovely weekend, though, that wound up being full of sunshine and loaded with fun.  This week’s Weekend Recap is all about Icefest, cousins, and an easy Sunday.  Check it out and have a great week ya’ll!

Addie had so much fun putting her Creativity For Kids Terrarium together with her daddy for Family Night. Read about the rest of our weekend and the fun we had on the blog!

I love this sweet moment I captured between my hubby and our daughter as they constructed her Grow N' Glow Terrium.

Okay so this was from our Family Night on Thursday but I just had to share these sweet moments between Matt and Addie.  I posted last week on Instagram about how much I love capturing these quiet moments between the two of them.  Matt’s outnumbered by us girls and he gets the brunt of our ever changing moods at times. lol  He is the most loving daddy and husband and we are so lucky to have him.

Our weekend was full of sunshine and plenty of fun and family time. Read all about our weekend and what we were up to on the blog!

The Creativity For Kids line is so great. It opens up your childs imagination and teaches them about growing and caring for things. Check out how we use ours to bring our family together.

We actually got Addie the Fairy Garden a while back but I poured all of the seeds in by mistake so the plants didn’t last long.  Oops. These two were a Christmas gift from her great-aunt and great-uncle.  Addie could not wait to put them both together.  She LOVES checking on her Terrarium every morning to see how things are growing.  We’ll probably be getting the Fairy Garden all set up this week because she had so much fun with the last one.

We stopped for a family selfie while at Icefest at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium this weekend!

Since the Winter storm seemed to be holding off on Saturday we headed to our favorite family destination, The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium for Icefest.  We were gifted an Annual Family Membership for Christmas and just love spending the day here.  There were so many great activities for Icefest, including live animal programs, a snow slide, and snow sculpting demonstrations.

I left my coat in the car and I didn't realize they had set up a mini sled run for the kids at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. So I watched the fun from inside.

I did not feel like wearing my coat around the museum so I left it in the car.  I didn’t realize that they would have a mini snow slide for the kids.  While Matt helped Addie snowshoe and sled I watched from the warmth of indoors.

Addie had a blast at Icefest at the National Mississippi River Museum this weekend!

The interactive children's area at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium packs in the fun while teaching kids about dams, rain, the local wildlife and so much more!

The interactive play area at the museum is so great.  We always spend so much time here as Addie plays in the water and learns about dams, weather, and the local wildlife.

One of Addie's favorite attractions at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium is the Sting Ray Touch Pool.

The Sting Ray Touch Pool is one of Addie’s favorite areas.  The delight on her face when she’s able to pet one is magical.

When we're out and about I make sure we keep a supply of healthy and delicious snacks that are filling and keep us fueled.

Whenever we’re out and about I ensure that we have a bag full of healthy goodies to keep us fueled up.  Larabars, Annie’s Organic Fruit Snacks, and Dates are some of our favorites.  Packing snacks helps to curb our hunger, which saves us money by not eating out every time we’re out and about.

My husband's egg salad recipe is so delicious. He likes to season it like Deviled Eggs filling. One of my favorite lunches.

We had a late lunch after our museum and aquarium fun.  I love Matt’s egg salad because he seasons it to taste similar to deviled egg filling.  I opted for no ham but did try some of Matt’s.  It’s such an easy way to add a little more substance to the egg salad and it was pretty yummy.

Addie had a blast playing Slap Jack with her Disney Junior Playing Game Card Superset!

After Addie and Matt returned from a little outdoor fun we settled in for a game of Slap Jack.  Addie gave me this crazy excited smile every time she set a card down because she couldn’t wait for the Jack to appear so she could try to slap it before me.

This fun Disney Junior Playing Card Games Superset is a perfect way to pass a lazy Winter Sunday Afternoon.

Addie loves playing cards and learning new games.  This Disney Junior Playing Card Games Superset has three decks of cards with 3 of her favorite Disney Junior characters, Sofia the First, Minnie Mouse and Doc McStuffins.  These holders are great for helping little hands hold the cards.  Addie likes to see how many she can get in before they fall out. lol

There's really nothing better than a movie picnic with your cousin on a cold Winter Day.

Addie had a Sunday afternoon play date with one of her cousins.  Addie is absolutely obsessed with setting up indoor picnics right now.  The girls got right to it and then settled in for snacks and a Disney movie.

I like to keep snack time as healthy as possible. That's why I love pairing some apples and graham crackers with Larabars and Annie's Organic Fruit Snacks!

If Addie had it her way she’d have a picnic of chocolate and marshmallows every time.  We compromise with apples, graham crackers, Larabars and Annie’s Organic Fruit Snacks.  Both the Larabars and the fruit snacks come in so many delicious flavors.  There are no processed sugars and the Larabars are dairy-free and gluten-free!  Addie gets the sweet she is craving and I get to feel good about feeding her healthy snacks.

This little guy was keeping busy with a tamborine and a Fisher Price activity flashlight!

Our nephew came along for the play date.  We let him stay close to the picnic action by giving him a tambourine and this great VTech Spin and Learn Flashlight.  It is made for kids a bit older but he loved the lights and sounds.

The Alex Toys Giant Art Jar has saved me many times. I love letting my daughter go wild with creations.

After the picnic, the girls decided they wanted to make cats and dogs.  We pulled out the Alex Toys Giant Art Jar to get them started.  She’s had this forever, find a similar Alex Toys craft bin here.  The girls had so much fun putting their animals together, as the aftermath shows.

This roasted brussel sprout recipe is so delicious and so easy!

Sunday Dinner consisted of my Manloaf Meatloaf (get my recipe here) and these super delicious and easy roasted Brussel sprouts.  The whole family pops them like candy.  I found the recipe here.  I didn’t have any lemons or lemon juice this time but they were still amazing.
