Hey Everyone! Wow, I feel like I’ve been a bit absent this past month! I allowed myself to really step back in December and focus on my family and also where I want Cookie Crumbs to be by this time next year. Stay tuned for my 2017 goals! 2017! Wow, I can’t believe we’re in a new year already. It always seems to sneak up on me quicker and quicker each year. As a way to recap how my 2016, or at least the past 5 months of 2016 I’m sharing my year in review via my mom fashion. Check out my crazy life and let me know what were your favorites!

I felt like I was always running some where this year. The life of a mom is non-stop! Whether I was having a rare lazy day at home or out running errands I have to be comfortable. The one exception to the super comfy rule is my shoes though. I am obsessed with shoes, especially wedges and heels, but any cute shoe will do really. Running around after a four year old, or taking one ANYWHERE requires a certain level of comfort.
Our Fall and Winter have been hectic. Now that I’m adjusting to being a working mom with a child in school I’m really embracing the comfort is key moto. With all of the running around there was between work, preschool events, running errands and holiday parties I needed to be comfortable but also wanted to feel pretty. I’m also a sucker for pajamas, aren’t the ones we wore for our Christmas cards adorable?! I hope Addie never gets sick of the family Christmas card because I look forward to creating them every year.
Outfit Details: Target Christmas Pajamas for the Whole Family | Black Suede Lace-Up Heels | Black Layered Necklace | Pink Sunglasses | Sorel Caribou Boots-Runs big so down-size 1/2 size | Over-sized Red Sweater | Yoga Pants | Black Sunglasses | Plaid Button-Up | Black Skinny Jeans | Wedge Booties | Skinny Jeans
Matt and I don’t get to go out for dates very often so when we do it’s a special occasion that warrants more than just jeans and a t-shirt. It was crazy hot the day we went out for our anniversary date (thank you August in Iowa) so I needed something that was pretty but didn’t make me sweat like crazy. My black pleated skirt and gray t-shirt were just the right amount of cool and casual while still being a little dressy. PS, look how long my hair was! I definitely enjoy the shorter hair now.
I recently returned to the working world after being off for a year. It was almost like putting on a comfortable pair of jeans, except now I just want my comfortable pair of yoga pants. One advantage of being a working mom, though, is that I get to dress up a bit for the office but I have to be comfortable. I have to deliver hundreds of papers once a week to the local businesses so grays and blacks are definitely a staple in my work wardrobe. That’s why I was all about sweater dresses and trousers for work. If you can’t tell from the photos above, I’m obsessed with my skinny jeans too.
Outfit Details: Jean Button-Up | Cozy Cardigans | Sweater Dress | Infinity Scarf | Faux Leather Jacket | Knee-High Boots | Simple Tee | Chunky Sweater | Burgundy Tights | White Button-Up | Pleated Skirt
The last part of 2016 was full of a lot of changes for me and my family. Matt and I both started new jobs and Addie began preschool. It took an adjustment period for all of us to get into a groove but Addie adjusted beautifully to preschool, thank goodness for her social adaptation skills. Matt and I also settled in to our new jobs. I’m certainly enjoying the lower stress level of my current job over my previous one. I feel like this past year and a half has been a big transition period for our family and I’m looking forward to 2017 bringing some settling in and calm for us.
What were some highlights from your 2016?
